Creatine Monohydrate in Lebanon: Prices, Brands and How to Take It

Creatine is the most studied sports supplement there is, and it is also one of the cheapest. Yet it is still surrounded by more myths than almost anything else on the shelf — that it damages the kidneys, that you must "load" it, that you need to cycle off, that the expensive versions work better.

Here is what the evidence actually supports, what creatine costs in Lebanon, and how to take it.

What creatine does

Your muscles store creatine as phosphocreatine, which is the fuel used for short, hard efforts — a heavy set, a sprint, the last two reps. Supplementing raises those stores, which lets you do slightly more work per session. Over weeks and months, more work is what produces strength and size.

Creatine does not build muscle by itself. It lets you train harder, and the training builds the muscle. Some of the early weight gain people notice is water drawn into the muscle cell, which is normal and not fat.

Which type to buy

Creatine monohydrate. That is the answer for almost everyone.

It is the form used in the overwhelming majority of research, it is the cheapest, and no alternative form has convincingly outperformed it in studies. HCL, ethyl ester, buffered versions and "creatine blends" are marketed on absorption claims and mixability, and they cost more per serving. If you like them, they work — but they are not an upgrade you need to pay for.

"Micronized" monohydrate is simply monohydrate ground finer so it dissolves more easily. Same molecule, less grit at the bottom of the shaker. That one is worth having.

How much creatine costs in Lebanon

This is the question we get most, so here are real prices from our shelf rather than a vague range:

Product Size Price
Nutrex Creatine Monohydrate 300 g / 60 servings $20
MusclePharm Creatine Monohydrate 60 servings $20
Mutant Micronized Creatine 300 g / 60 servings $20
Kevin Levrone Gold Creatine 60 servings $20
Muscle Rulz Micronized Creatine 300 g / 60 servings $22
Giant Sports Edge Creatine 500 g / 100 servings $25
ALLMAX Micronized Creatine 400 g / 80 servings $35
NUTRITECH Creatine Monohydrate 500 g / 100 servings $35
MuscleTech Platinum 100% Creatine 400 g / 80 servings $38
Optimum Nutrition Micronized Creatine 300 g $39

Work it out per serving rather than per tub. At $25 for 100 servings, Giant Sports Edge comes to roughly 25 cents a day. Even the most expensive option on that list is well under a dollar per day. Creatine is the best value supplement in any store.

How to take it

The simple method: 3 to 5 grams per day, every day. That is one level scoop on most tubs. Mix it into water, juice, or your protein shake.

Loading: taking around 20 g per day split into four doses for the first 5 to 7 days fills your muscle stores faster — roughly one week instead of three to four. It is optional. The end result is the same either way, and loading is more likely to cause stomach discomfort. If you are not in a rush, skip it.

Timing: it does not matter much. Creatine works by saturating your muscles over time, not by giving you a pre-workout hit. Take it whenever you will remember to take it consistently — consistency is the only part that really matters.

Rest days: yes, take it on rest days too. You are maintaining a level, not fuelling a session.

Cycling: not necessary. There is no evidence that your body stops responding or that you need breaks.

The kidney question

This is the concern we hear most often in the shop. Creatine raises blood creatinine, which is a marker doctors use to estimate kidney function — so a blood test can look alarming without anything being wrong. In healthy people, studies following creatine use over months and years have not found kidney damage.

That said: if you have existing kidney problems, or you take medication affecting the kidneys, talk to your doctor before using it. And if you are having blood work done, tell the person ordering it that you take creatine so your results are read correctly.

Common questions

Will it make me look bloated? Creatine pulls water into the muscle, not under the skin. Most people find the opposite — muscles look fuller.

Does it cause hair loss? This comes from a single small 2009 study measuring a hormone marker, not hair loss itself. It has not been replicated. There is no good evidence creatine causes baldness.

Do women benefit? Yes, in the same way and at the same dose. It is not a men's supplement.

Do I need to drink more water? Drink normally and stay hydrated, which you should be doing anyway when training.

Does it work if I don't train? Not meaningfully for strength or size. Creatine amplifies training; it does not replace it.
